Motorized Avalanche Skills Training 3+

Why M.A.S.T 3+

If you haven’t taken an avalanche course in a while, consider the Motorized Avalanche Skills Training Level 3+ course. It is the smart call. Or if you want more time to reconnect with the fundamentals, this course is for you. This extended format gives snowmobile and snow bike riders an extra full day. They can review key rescue skills, terrain travel habits, and snowpack assessment. This happens before launching into the advanced field work. It’s built for riders who want to feel confident, sharp, and fully prepared before taking on complex avalanche terrain leadership. No shortcuts—just the right prep for serious performance.

Who Should Attend

The Motorized Avalanche Skills Training Level 3+ course is ideal for snowmobile and snow bike riders. It provides all the benefits of the Level 3 program. Additionally, riders have an extra day to refresh key skills. If you haven’t taken avalanche training in a few seasons, M.A.S.T. 3+ gives you the guidance you need. It also offers a more gradual transition into advanced leadership in avalanche terrain. This helps you rebuild confidence before the deep dive. To register for the Motorized Avalanche Skills Training Level 3+ course, all students must have previously completed M.A.S.T. 2 or 2+, or an equivalent Avalanche Skills Training Level 2 course at some point in their riding career.

This course is for you if:

  • It’s been more than two years since your last avalanche course or on-snow training
  • You feel rusty on rescue skills, snowpack testing, or terrain recognition
  • You’re ready to move into advanced backcountry leadership but want a thorough warm-up
  • You’re looking for a comprehensive motorized avalanche course that builds strong foundations and then pushes you further

This is the last step in recreational motorized specific avalanche training. It is a custom-built course designed for riders by riders. And delivered by industry leading professionals.

What You’ll Learn

The Motorized Avalanche Skills Training Level 3+ course offers everything included in the M.A.S.T. 3 program—plus an additional review day at the start of Module 1. It’s ideal for snowmobile and snow bike riders who haven’t had recent avalanche training. It helps them to sharpen up before diving deep. Like M.A.S.T. 3, this course is delivered in two separate modules. One module is at the start of the season. The second is toward the end. This schedule gives snowmobile and snow bike riders time to apply what they’ve learned through real riding experience. This seven-day motorized avalanche course is for riders stepping into backcountry leadership roles.

You’ll learn to:

  • Rebuild critical avalanche rescue and terrain travel skills from earlier levels
  • Lead avalanche terrain travel in complex, high-consequence zones
  • Analyze advanced snowpack layers and persistent weak structures
  • Plan and execute daily missions using weather and bulletin data
  • Direct group management, energy flow, and safe travel strategies
  • Coordinate realistic multi-victim rescue scenarios
  • Make smart decisions under pressure using proven frameworks
  • Apply leadership skills through communication, observation, and track setting

Use your own riding days as practice grounds. Complete structured homework assignments. Attend two scheduled live TEAMS/ZOOM check-ins between modules. These activities will reinforce learning and prep for the next phase. Have direct access to your instructor between modules for questions, coaching, and ongoing mentorship
